Getting around 

Chilham can be easily reached by the following methods of transport:

 

By Car:

 

PARKING: 

 

Free parking provided at the rear of the Castle grounds. Follow A252 to Chilham Park. Please use CT4 8DB for sat nav instructions, and turn at Village Hall for car park entrance (sign posted).  

 

From the M20: exit at Junction 8 taking the Leeds Castle turnoff and follow the A20 towards Lenham, Charing and Ashford. At the Charing roundabout turn left up the hill onto the A252. Go through Challock and straight over the roundabout towards Canterbury. About four miles on you will come to Chilham. 

 

From the M2: exit at Junction 6 and follow the A251 towards Ashford. After approx. 6 miles take first exit from the roundabout onto the A252. Chilham is located on the right hand side of the road about 6 miles before Canterbury.

 

From Canterbury:(approx. 6 miles) Take the A28 out of Canterbury towards Ashford. Continue for about 5-6 miles – on the approach to Chilham, the A28 forks to the left – do not turn here but stay on the main road which curves around to your right and becomes the A252 heading towards Charing & Maidstone. After approx. half a mile Chilham is on your left hand side.

 

From Ashford: (approx. 8 miles) Take the A28 towards Canterbury; at the T-junction onto the A252 turn left, heading towards Charing & Maidstone. After approx. half a mile Chilham is on your left hand side.

 


 

By Rail:

 

Chilham Station
Ashford Road, Kent CT4 8EG

Trains stop at Chilham for services from Margate and Ramsgate via Canterbury West Station to London Charing Cross (via Ashford and Tonbridge) and London Victoria (via Ashford and Maidstone). Services are managed by Southeastern. Chilham is an ‘unmanned’ station with no ticket office about a quarter of a mile from Chilham village.

By Bus:

Buses are operated by Stagecoach. East Kent Bus No 001 runs from Ashford to Canterbury Bus Station via Chilham Monday to Friday (9 trips) and Saturday (8 trips) The bus stop in Chilham is at the entrance to Felborough Close quite near the Woolpack pub.
